Arkansas Thespian Festival 2025 results-
25 students in Brookland Troupe 8299 attended the Arkansas Thespian Festival in Russellville on February 13-15, 2025.
We came away with several awards, including:
$110,600 in scholarship offers for members of our troupe!

We were recognized as a Gold Level Honor Troupe, Mia Stacey auditioned for Best of Show, Claudia Johnson competed in Duet Improv competition, two teams competed in Tech Challenge, one team competed in Makeup Design, one team competed in Set Design…. And went to so many workshops- some of the favorites were Improv, Playwriting, Dance classes, Stage Combat, Prop making, Clowning, Falling Safely, Accents, Special effect makeup, Acting for Film, Nonverbal Communication…and there was even a Welding workshop for teachers to learn how to weld!








Over the weekend Brookland Indoor Percussion (BIP) competed in their first Arkansas Marching Arts Association competition at Bryant Junior High. Indoor percussion is an activity that consists of marching and stationary percussion instruments. This is a strictly extracurricular ensemble, meaning all rehearsal time takes place after school. BIP received 3rd in Percussion Scholastic B with a score of 63 points!

Any student or faculty/staff member who competes in Finn's Mission is entered into the NFL drawing for two Super Bowl tickets for next year!

Mrs. Clairday will be available during Parent-Teacher Conferences from 2:00-5:45 PM and 7:15-8:00 PM to assist with the FAFSA application or answer any other college or career-related questions. She will be set up in the cafeteria where you pick up progress reports. Please remember, students must complete the FAFSA to be eligible for scholarships or grants from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education.

Raelee McQuay was selected to the Arkansas All-State Concert Band on Saturday at auditions in Jonesboro. Congratulations on this outstanding accomplishment!

Mrs. Akin (11th/12th school counselor) and Mrs. Clairday (College and Career Coach) will be hosting a parent meeting next week during Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday. We will talk about the high school scheduling process and what to expect over the next few months as your student prepares to select courses for next year. We will also cover current graduation requirements, honor grad requirements, programs that we offer at the high school, preparing for the next steps after high school, financial aid, and scholarships! We will be in the high school auditorium from 6pm-7pm, and would love to have you join us!


Congratulations to Abby and Mia for their SUPERIORs in the Solo Acting (monologues) category of the Thespys! We also had 10 students receive an Excellent and 4 receive a Good rating. Our next stop is the Arkansas State Thespian Festival in Russellville next week.

The bowling team competed in the 4A-3A East Conference Tournament on Thursday, February 6.
The girls team won the Conference Championship! Brianna Joseph was presented a gold medal for the All-Conference Team. Riley Williams was awarded a bronze medal for the All-Conference Team. The girls will bowl at the state tournament next week in Fayetteville,
The boys had three boys on the team that qualified to bowl at the state tournament. Lucas Nix, Tripp Sullins, and Chris Long scored high enough to compete individually in Fayetteville next week.

The juniors participated in an ACT Bootcamp today, hosted by Cantrell & Waller, with lunch generously provided by the Army National Guard.




Students had the opportunity to tour St. Bernard's and learn about the Project Search program. Project SEARCh Arkansas: Access Initiative is an innovate job-training program providing a nine-month internship for young adults.
