On 22 Jan 2022, Brookland HS JROTC participated in the Annual Malvern Drill Meet. The program finished 1st overall, but it wasn't so much about the finish as it was what these young men and women accomplished after a very trying week. Over the past week the JROTC Battalion also participated in two separate missions at the NEA Foodbank in which they packaged over 35,000 meals for 12 Counties across Northeast Arkansas. Friday the 21st saw all seniors form JROTC get recognized for their accomplishment over the past 4 years on JROTC Senior Night, and the program also provided a Color Guard prior to the Senior High Basketball Game.
The next morning these same cadets had to be at the school at 0430 in the morning to travel to Malvern for the Drill Meet. The team competed in 6 different areas which included Drill, Armed Drill, Male, Female, and Coed Color Guard as well as a Physical Fitness Challenge. We finished the drill meet in 1st place, placing 1st in 3 of the above 6 events and 2nd in the other 3. This amazing accomplishment just caps in what has been a very successful year for the JROTC Program. Here are some highlights
1. 1st Place overall at the Watson Chapel Color Guard Competition
2. 1st Place overall at the Brookland Drill Meet
3. 2nd in the ASU Howler
4. 2nd at the Westside Raider Competition
All this was accomplished while also providing parking for football, Color Guards for both Basketball and Football, and Community service both for Northeast Arkansas and the Brookland School district
