
This past weekend, Brookland's first ever Junior High Thespian Troupe attended the 2025 Arkansas Junior Thespian Festival. The Troupe was awarded Gold-level Honor Status. Caraline Cochran was selected to Showcase her Solo Acting piece during Closing Ceremonies. Sunny Sharp was selected as All State Cast for the One Act, and Mia Neira as All State Crew for the One Act. Recognized during the ceremonies for Superiors were Destiny Thompson and Caraline Cochran for Solo Acting, and Payton Busby & Bailey Treadway for Duet Acting. Recognized for Excellents were Riley Wilbanks, Clayton Armstrong, Mia Tyner, and Sunny Sharp for Solo Acting, and Mia Neira for Solo Musical Dance. While at ThesFest, students attended workshops on Puppetry, Prop Making, Character Building, Broadway Meets Tap Dancing, Musical Theatre, Special Effect Makeup, and more. We are so proud of all of our accomplishments during our very first year as a Junior High Troupe!



Today's baseball games and soccer matches have been cancelled due to potential weather conditions.

Congrats to the JH Brookland Red Softball team on a 15-3 win over Paragould. Hallie Bryant pitched the whole game and threw a 1 hitter. They also had a 10-2 win over Wynne. Kyleigh Combs threw that one with a two hitter.

Five choirs participated in our region assessment at JHS yesterday and four of them are moving on to the State level!
*Sophomore Select - Division I, Superior ratings in performance and sight singing
*Chamber Singers - Division I, Superior ratings in performance and sight singing
*Les Chanteurs - Division I, Superior ratings in performance (no sight singing requirement)
*Treble Choir - Division IIR, Excellent (Recommended for State) rating in performance
It has been many years since our Tenor Bass Choir has participated in assessment as a stand-alone ensemble and they received a Division II, Excellent rating for their performance!

Congrats to the Brookland Black Softball Team on a 11-1 win over Gosnell last night. 6th grader Harper Frans pitched a complete game only allowing 1 run.

Nine Brookland Junior High School students participated in Arkansas State University's Communication Day: Cooper Adair, Maddox Adams, Arron Dover, Ronald Gonzalez, Mollie Hampton, Katelyn Reed, Lauren Sanders, Amelia Williams, and Cashtan Wilson.
“The main purpose of Communication Day is to expose prospective students to the highly versatile field of communication, including the various majors, careers and employable skills such as one-on-one and group interactions, persuasive argument, debate, social media content management, and digital marketing,” said Dr. Jill Simons, associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Communication.
For the second year in a row, Brookland won the Argumentative Essay Competition. This year's writer was Amelia Williams.
Amelia Williams, Cashtan Wilson, Mollie Hampton, and Lauren Sanders also won awards for social media content management and digital marketing.
