As an introduction to To Kill a Mockingbird, students in Mrs. Hendrix’s class were given various shoes and used inferencing to create a character based on the shoe in order to “Walk a Mile in These Shoes.” Some students took this quite literally! At the end of the activity, the class discussed how we see someone in passing and tell ourselves an entire story about them without ever knowing who they really are which can lead to stereotypes and snap judgments. Students will explore this theme as they begin to study this classic.

Coach Frost's science class had a slinky lab today! Students used slinkies to model transverse and longitudinal waves and calculate wave speed.
