Brookland’s Thespian Troupe 8299 attended the Arkansas Thespian Festival February 10-12 (along with 1300 other thespians), where they competed in various categories.  Our troupe received many awards and recognitions;  these include:

*Cannon Joe Smith- Superior in Solo Musical (qualified for ITF- International Thespian Festival) 

*John Jenkins, Bri Bowser, & Andrew Nash- Superior in Costume Quick Change (Tech Challenge Event) (qualified for ITF- International Thespian Festival)

*Our troupe was recognized as a Silver Honor Troupe 

*All State Cast (for the One-Act)- Andrew Baldridge & William Osborn

*Excellent rating for our One Act production

*Honor Thespian- Rena Knowles 

*Max Haughey- Excellent in Short Film

*Andrew Baldridge- Excellent in Monologue 

*Lila Boles- Excellent in Monologue

*Austn Kelton- Excellent in Monologue 

*Kiersten Dalton- Excellent in Monologue

*Rena Knowles- Excellent in Monologue

*William Osborn- Excellent in Monologue

*Cailynn Curtis- Excellent in Monologue

*Aron Davis- Excellent in Monologue

*Excellent in Group Acting (Josefina Saavedra,, Andrew Nash, Andrew Baldridge, Max Haughey, Cannon Joe Smith, Aron Davis, Kaylin Wood, Cailynn Curtis, John Jenkins, Anna Osborn) 

*Hayden Coleman & Kadence Bracken- Excellent in Duet Acting

*Andrew Nash & John Jenkins- Excellent in Duet Acting

*Abigail Bryant- Excellent in Solo Musical

*Cannon Joe Smith- selected for callbacks for Best of Show

*Logan Bishop- ended his second term as STO (State Thespian Officer)

*And our very own Hayden Coleman was one of the winners during Thespian Games - Minute to Win It. 

 While there, besides competing, students attended performances and workshops for 3 days; some of their favorites included dance workshops (such as Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Encanto, & waltz), prop making, costume design, stage combat, accents (Russian, New York, British), hip hop Shakespeare, set design, improv, sound design, mask making, creative dramatics, creative movement, etc 

Besides competing in acting, we also competed in technical competitions, including hanging and focusing spotlights, threading a sewing machine, folding backdrops, knot tying, and costume quick change. 

Some students also went to college auditions while there; $2.2 million in scholarships were awarded at festival.
