19 choir students traveled to Anaheim this past Thursday to compete in a WorldStrides Heritage Festival. Their Friday performances were absolutely incredible and I couldn’t be more proud of them!
Both of our choirs received a GOLD rating!
Gold is the highest possible rating awarded at this festival and requires an average composite score of at least 90/100. The judges were particularly impressed by the level of literature they were able to sing. These students learned this music on top of everything they learn in their curricular choirs and performed it with such a high level of musicianship even though they only met once a week to rehearse it together.
Not only were our students recognized with gold ratings for their choral performances, but two of our singers were recognized with individual awards. Only twelve students out of hundreds were recognized individually and two of them were Brookland singers!
Bailey Groves was one of ten students called to the stage to receive the Maestro Award. This award is given to students who stand out to the judges and she was recognized for her outstanding solo in “City Called Heaven.”
The Best Teammate: We’re All in This Together Award was only given to two students and our very own Calleigh Parker was called to the stage as the choral recipient. Each director nominated one of their own students with a written testimony about how that student is the best possible teammate to their choir members. If you know Calleigh, you know there is no one else more deserving of this award!
