The Brookland Board of Education is pleased to announce that Mr. George Kennedy has accepted the position as Superintendent of Brookland Public Schools effective July 1, 2025.
After a thorough search and review of numerous applicants, we are unanimous in our decision that Mr. Kennedy is the best person to lead and move our district forward. He served as the Interim Superintendent for 7 months in 2022 and was responsible for rebuilding a postive culture in which students and faculty can thrive. His integrity, goals for student achievement, commitment to community, and dedication to provide teachers and faculty with the tools and support to succeed align with our vision for Brookland Public Schools. His growth over the past 4 years as a Bearcat gives us great confidence that he is the perfect fit for the position.
The Board would also like to thank Mr. Bunch for his leadership and guidance over the past 3 years. He has succesfully led our district through the achievement of many goals and projects. He has also helped us to start our new Intermediate School and prepare for the continued growth we are expecting. We wish him the very best as he heads home to complete his journey in education.
Our search did bring us some brilliantly minded leaders and allow us the opportunity to learn new ways to achieve the exceptional vision we have for our school. There is a feeling of excitement and we are eager to share and collaborate with our administration on the future of Brookland Public Schools.
It may be a rainy, gloomy day outside. However, the future of Brookland Public Schools is bright and it is a great day to be a BEARCAT.
On behalf of the entire board and the children and families we serve, thank you all for your support and all you do to make BPS the BEST!
Danna Johnson, President
Brookland Public Schools
Board of Education
