Reminder there will be NO School November 22-26 due to Thanksgiving Break. There will be NO Cat Club these dates either. 

The school will be activating our new website on November 22. We will also have a new app that can be found in the app store under Brookland SD.

Boys Soccer Tryouts will be held Monday-Thursday, Nov 29-Dec 2 from 3:15-4:30 on the game field. For more information, contact Coach Parsons at

Kindergarten Literacy Night will be on Tuesday, November 30th from 6:00 - 7:30 pm in Mrs. Sullivan's classroom. 

The Miss Bearcat Pageant will be held at the Brookland High School Auditorium Feb 25-26, 2022! Packets will be coming home soon!


Odyssey of the Mind 

We had three teams that competed in Odyssey of the Mind and won first place in State competition and advanced to World Finals. Our 3rd grade team, coached by Clint and Kat Burns competed virtually in Problem 2 Division 1 and placed 16th. Our 4th and 5th grade teams traveled to World Finals in Orlando in June. The 4th grade team, coached by Jessica Riley and Paige Barnes, placed 6th in Problem 5 Division 1. The 5th grade team, coached by Carrie Hembrey and Shellie McMorries, won 1st place and are the World Champions for Problem 3 Division 1. Brookland had the only team from Arkansas to place as world champions this year and had the most teams placed at competition in Orlando. We are very proud of all our OMers!

Golf Team 

The Brookland Lady Bearcats Golf team recently won their fourth consecutive 4A-3 Conference title and their third consecutive 4A State title. Representing the Lady Bearcats were Seniors Breah Bowman, Emma Butler, Vivian McMechen, and Isabel Vialsa. The Lady Bearcats went a perfect 36-0 on the season. The Lady Bearcats have a combined record of 92-0 over the last three seasons. The Lady Bearcats won the conference title at RidgePointe Country Club where senior Vivian McMechen won the individual Medalist title for the tournament. The Lady Bearcats then won the 4A State Championship at Sage Meadows Country Club. Senior Emma Butler shot an impressive 69 (-3 under par) to earn second place individually at the state tournament, earning her a spot in the State Overall Golf Championship at Pleasant Valley Country Club. Seniors Breah Bowman, Emma Butler, and Vivian McMechen all earned All-State honors at the 4A State Championship.

The Brookland Bearcats Boys Golf team recently finished Runner-up in the 4A-3 Conference Championship held at RidgePointe Country Club. The Bearcats then finished Runner-up in the 4A State Championship held at Fayetteville Country Club. Representing the Boys Golf team were Sophomores Cole Kirby and Jaxson Findley, Junior Harrison McMechen, and Senior Ryan Oxford. Cole Kirby finished third in the 4A State Championship earning him both an All-State honor and a spot in the State Overall Golf Championship at Pleasant Valley Country Club. The Bearcats Golf team finished with a record of 32-9. 

Mr. Oxford has been named the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All Arkansas Preps Golf Coach of the Year! 

Sr. High Volleyball Team 

The Senior High Volleyball team finished their season with a record of 28-11. They were District and Conference Runner-Up and also State Runner-Up. All conference players include: Keeley Beary, Chloe Rodriguez, Maddie Smith, and Rylee Walker. Maddie Smith was also named All-State. All State Tournament Team Selections from Brookland were Savannah Pope, Chloe Rodriguez, and Rylee Walker.

High School Band 

At the State Band Competition

1. Class - 3rd place, first time Brookland has ever medaled. We missed 2nd place by less than a quarter of a point.

2. Overall (not state recognized) - 10th place out of the 74 qualifying bands.

3. We had the highest score at state in school history.

4. We beat every band we competed against at invitational competitions except Van Buren (6A) and Paragould (5A), including at least 1 National Competing band.

Now that marching season is over, the band has entered "Individual Competition" season. Twelve members of the Brookland Jazz Band travelled to Jonesboro High School to audition for selection to one of the 43 All-region jazz slots. Brookland students earned EIGHT of those spots. These students will be performing in a live concert in January, 2022.

Special Olympics 

The junior high and high school athletes brought home 4 bronze, 10 silver, and 10 gold medals!
